HOW BAD SMOKING AMONG WOMEN???

Although many doctors may have differing opinions on what is or isn't okay for a pregnant woman to do, there is one activity that you'll find no doctor approves.........This activity is smoking. Smoking during pregnancy is strongly discouraged, and even though it is hard to quit smoking, statistics give many good reasons why pregnant women must not smoke...

Smoking during pregnancy leads to a variety of health problems, not only for the mother, but for the baby as well. This is because harmful chemicals in cigarettes, such as carbon monoxide, do cross the placenta to reach the baby. Nicotine also is delivered to the baby when the mother smokes........One of the most common problems for the baby whose mother smokes while pregnant is low birth weight....... Some of the low birth weight babies born to smokers also arrived early because their mothers smoked. Smoking can even cause placental abruption and death of the baby.......

After a baby is born, a big concern of many parents is SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Studies have shown that when a woman smokes during her pregnancy, the baby has up to a 3 percent higher chance of dying from SIDS than he or she would have had if the mother had not smoked......It's really best to stop smoking before trying to conceive, as smoking just before or early in pregnancy increases the chances of birth defects, especially of the heart......... But the good news is that it's not too late to quit once a woman discovers she is pregnant. If she manages to quit before the 15 week point in her pregnancy, a woman can lower her risk of delivering a low birth weight baby to about the same as if she never smoked........ Any woman who is pregnant should try to stop smoking, with her doctor's help, as soon as possible........

BAD SMOKING HABIT

Smoking itself is a bad habit, but if you can't give it up, you can at least cut back on some of your bad smoking habits... Do you smoke in bed for example? That's not only a bad habit but also a dangerous one, as many house fires start because someone fell asleep with a lit cigarette still between his fingers....
Reaching for a cigarette first thing in the morning is another habit which you should try to get out of....Try doing some deep breathing exercises instead..... Smoking in the kitchen, especially when you are cooking is also something which should be avoided, as ash can easily fall into the food........

Not paying attention to when and how often you smoke is another bad habit and one which can mean you are smoking a lot more than you think....So make some note of every cigarette you smoke for a week and notice when you smoke unconsciously, that is without noticing you're doing it....Moreover, once you are fully aware of your bad smoking habits, you can start to do something to change them and you should be able to cut down substantially in the process......... If you smoke when talking on the phone, keep your cigarettes and ashtray out of reach....... If you go out drinking with friends, make a conscious effort to smoke less - the pub is the place you are most likely to smoke too much........Try to drink plenty of water.,... This is one of step to avoid smoking.....
Smoking around babies or children is another bad habit and one which could have serious consequences for their health, as passive smoking has now been proved to cause the same illnesses as active smoking.......If you smoke in public places, then you need to be careful not to blow smoke in the faces of non-smokers around you as this is putting them at risk and is also extremely unpleasant as it can irritate the eyes and nose, as well as making their clothes smell....
This is some point of bad smoking habit, any point that i had left?? u can leave a comment or suggestion...

What happens if I really start smoking again?

As we know, all smokers always ask thats can they have a cigarette once in a while after quiet??  Many people get through the toughest part of quitting and mistakenly think that they can start smoking a cigarette once in a while again. Very soon, their old habits come back and they find themselves addicted once again. Quitting is difficult for most people so once you quit, make a commitment to yourself that you won't light up again! If you give in and have a cigarette while you are trying to quit, don't worry! This doesn't mean you can't quit. Quitting is a very hard thing to do, and it is not surprising that you might break down and have a cigarette at some point. The important thing is not to use this as a reason to become a regular smoker again. Think of it as a mistake and tell yourself that you won't let it happen again. You can do it! If you try to quit and it doesn't work, don't give up. Quitting is very hard. Think about why quitting didn't work for you. Only YOU know why you like to smoke, and only YOU can figure out what it will take for you to quit. Start thinking about what you can do to help yourself quit for good. Try quitting again in a few weeks and use what you learned from your first experience to make it work the second time. So , just be aware k??=)

World No Tobacco Day 2010

Controlling the epidemic of tobacco among women is an important part of any comprehensive tobacco control strategy. World No Tobacco Day 2010 was designed to draw particular attention to the harmful effects of tobacco marketing towards women and girls. It also highlighted the need for the nearly 170 Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control to ban all tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship in accordance with their constitutions or constitutional principles. Women comprise about 20% of the world’s more than one billion smokers. However, this figure is bound to increase. Male rates of smoking have peaked, while female rates are on the rise. Women are major target of opportunity for the tobacco industry, which needs to recruit new users to replace the nearly half of current users who will die prematurely from tobacco-related diseases. Especially troubling is the rising prevalence of tobacco use among girls. The new WHO report, Women and health: today’s evidence, tomorrow’s agenda, points to evidence that tobacco advertising increasingly targets girls. Data from 151 countries show that about 7% of adolescent girls smoke cigarettes as opposed to 12% of adolescent boys. In some countries, almost as many girls smoke as boys.

World No Tobacco Day 2010 gave overdue recognition to the importance of controlling the epidemic of tobacco among women. As WHO Director-General Margaret Chan wrote in the aforementioned report, “protecting and promoting the health of women is crucial to health and development-not only for the citizens of today but also for those of future generations”. The WHO Framework Convention, which took effect in 2005, expresses alarm at “the increase in smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption by women and young girls worldwide”. It is therefore important that tobacco control policies recognise and take into account gender norms, differences and responses to tobacco in order to “reduce tobacco use and improve the health of men and women worldwide”. The WHO Framework Convention recognises “the need for gender-specific tobacco control strategies”, as well as for the “full participation of women at all levels of tobacco control policy making and implementation of tobacco control measures”.
On World No Tobacco Day 2010, and throughout the following year, WHO will encourage governments to pay particular attention to protecting women from the tobacco companies’ attempts to lure them into lifetimes of nicotine dependence. By responding to WHO’s call, governments can reduce the toll of fatal and crippling heart attacks, stroke, cancers and respiratory diseases that have become increasingly prevalent among women. Tobacco use could kill one billion people during this century. Recognising the importance of reducing tobacco use among women, and acting upon that recognition, would save many lives. Although the World No Tobacco Day 2010 campaign focused on tobacco marketing for women, it took into account the need to protect boys and men from tobacco companies’ tactics.

WHAT'S IN CIGARETTES???

Tobacco smoke is a mixture of gases and small particles made up of water, tar and nicotine..... The tar is a messy mixture of hundreds of toxic chemicals, many of which are known to cause cancer....for example, nitrosamines, benzpyrene.....Many of the gases in tobacco smoke are harmful.... These include carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, and other toxic irritants such as acrolein and formaldehyde..... Due to the high temperatures over 800°C or 1400°F, the burning end of a cigarette is like a miniature chemical factory.... Altogether more than 4,000 chemical compounds have been identified in tobacco smoke.....
The chemicals that cause cancer are mainly in the tar..... Tar, together with some of the irritant gases, may also be partly responsible for chronic bronchitics and empysema..... Nitrogen oxides are suspected, but the main agents responsible are not yet known..... Neither nicotine nor carbon monoxide causes cancer, but they probably work together as causes of the heart diseases associated with smoking.......
It is easy to understand why the main cancers caused by smoking are at sites having direct contact with the smoke, specifically the lungs, mouth, and our throat.,.... However, some cancer-producing chemicals are absorbed into the our blood and transported to other parts of the body. This is how smoking causes cancer of the bladder, kidney, pancreas, and uterus for women..........
The way in which smoking causes heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular diseases is quite complex..
1.After absorption through the lungs, carbon monoxide combines with hemoglobin in the red blood cells and reduces the amount of oxygen they can carry around the body....
2.Carbon monoxide and nicotine both appear to play a part in accelerating the deposition of cholesterol in the inner lining of arteries which over many years leads to arteriosclerosis, a kind of hardening and furring up of arteries which reduces blood flow....
3.Cigarette smoking also makes the blood clot more easily, making episodes of trombosis more likely....
4.Impairment of blood flow, and of oxygen-carrying capacity due to carbon monoxide, all reduce the supply of oxygen. This happens at the same time that the heart's need for oxygen is increased by the stimulant effect of nicotine on the rate and force of the heart's contractions.....
5.The lack of oxygen is damaging to the heart and increases the severity of a heart attack.....
6.Nicotine can cause further problems by upsetting the regular rhythm of the heart....Nicotine and carbon monoxide are also important factors in peripheral vascular disease, which can lead to gangrene of the feet..... Nicotine causes constriction, or narrowing, of the small blood vessels...... This, combined with carbon monoxide's oxygen-reducing effect, tips the balance in people with narrowed leg arteries......
Likewise, nicotine constriction of blood vessels in the placenta which it provides nourishment to an unborn baby, combined with the effects of carbon monoxide, reduces oxygen supply to the unborn babies of pregnant women who smoke......
In these various ways both nicotine and carbon monoxide are involved in the effects of smoking on coronary heart disease, other vascular diseases, and on the development of the unborn child...It is so dangerous for pregnant women whos smoke... Although stopping smoking may not reverse arteriosclerosis, a disease in which plaque builds up in the arteries, it will progress less quickly......
However, the other negative effects from smoking are reversed within 24 hours of stopping, when nicotine and carbon monoxide have cleared from the body.....

WHAT IS A SMOKING ADDICTION???

A smoking addiction refers to a person has formed an uncontrollable dependence on cigarettes to the point where stopping smoking would cause severe emotional, mental, or physical reactions and so on.... Everyone knows that smoking is harmful and addictive, but few people just realize that how it be affected people...Chances are that about one in three smokers who do not stop will eventually die because of their smoking. ....Some will die in their 40year old, others will die later. On average, they will die 10 to 15 years earlier than they would have died from other causes....
Most smokers want to quit and do it for many times but totally failed, but only one in three succeeds in stopping permanently before age 60. By this time, much harm may have been done to the body....The reason why so many people fail to stop is because they are too addicted. Being addicted does not mean that you cannot stop - only that it is likely to be difficult to quit smoking.... Anyone can succeed if he or she goes about it in the right way.....
How you stop especially, when you stop  is a very personal matter.,...You can stop but its hard to stop...but you have to try stop smoking in the right way... Only you know what you have to give up, and how the benefits of smoking can be weighed against the benefits of stopping.... Harassment and pressure from others who do not understand is often unhelpful..... You will only stop when you have made a good decision..... When you do make up your mind, however, you can succeed, regardless of how addicted you may be......
If you stop smoking before or during middle age for inctance, age 35 to 50 years old, you will avoid about 90 percent of the lung cancer risk.,,, If you are currently middle-aged, you are also more likely to succeed in quitting now than when you were younger,....

Kicking Butts and Staying Smoke Free

All forms of tobacco such as cigarettes, pipes, cigars, hookahs, and smokeless tobacco are hazardous.....It doesn't help to substitute products that seem like they're better for you than regular cigarettes, for instance e-cigarettes or filtered or low-tar cigarettes....The only thing that really helps a person to avoid the problems associated with smoking is staying smoke free....This isn't always easy, especially if everyone around you who are smoking and offering you the cigarettes... It may help to have your reasons for not smoking ready for times you may feel the pressure, such as "I just don't like it" or "I want to stay in shape for soccer" Examples. football, basketball, or other sport...The good news for people who don't smoke or who want to quit is that studies show that the number of teens who smoke has dropped dramatically... Today, about 20% of high school students smoke — which means 4 out of 5 don't....
If you do smoke and want to quit, you have lots of information and support available. Different approaches to quitting work for different people. For some, quitting cold turkey is best. Others find that a slower approach is the way to go. Some people find that it helps to go to a support group especially for teens. These are sometimes sponsored by local hospitals or organizations like the American Cancer Society. The Internet offers a number of good resources to help people quit smoking.
When quitting, it can be helpful to realize that the first few days are the hardest. So don't give up. Some people find they have a few relapses before they manage to quit for good.
Staying smoke free will give you a whole lot more of everything — more energy, better performance, better looks, more money in your pocket, and, in the long run, more life to live!

smoking will cause social problems

smoking to some extent can invites to social problems. adolescents who are regular cigarette smoking is at risk for other illicit substances to try to get the maximum satisfaction. they will be exposed to drugs when smoking is no longer felt able to give more to their satisfaction.

at the beginning of their taking drugs may not be a problem to those around them. but when they are old, many problems will exist. they will do anything to get money to buy drugs. This situation will increase the rate of crimes such as thefts, etc. kecuriaan. If these conditions prevalent, it will bring a complex social problem. not only the family but also to society and country.

people will always be in a dangerous situation because they may be threatened and blackmailed by those caught up in crime that comes from smoking. to get money, criminals are willing to do anything including murder. This situation is certainly invited to an unsafe environment for everyone in a community.

These problems also affect the development and stability negara.peningkatan crime rate would indicate that a country is in an unsafe condition. This would have adverse impact on the social level of our country. where the neighboring countries certainly do not want to cooperate with countries that do not guarantee Security

when people start smoking, it's hard to stop!

Smoking is a hard habit for many teenagers actually because tobacco contains nicotine which is highly addictive. It is same with other drugs, for instance like a heroin and other addictive drug. People start smoking for many  reasons such as, some people think it for looking cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. They just copy it from friend or family member which are smoking infront of them. They also wants to try smoking for fun only.Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all.

Did u kn0w sm0ke can destr0y p0litical ec0n0my??

ell0 guys..as we kn0w,sm0ke can affect in many aspect especially health. But,its als0 can disturb 0ur p0liticcal in 0ur c0untry??lets discuus ab0ut that.. :)

Am0ng businesses, c0mprehensive smoking bans tilt the ec0n0mic playing field in ways that are fundamental t0 the political economy 0f the issue. Establishments that cater to a largely sm0king clientele are likely to be opp0sed to a ban, and those who explicitly cater to anonsmoking customer base might be driven t0 oppose its t0 pr0tect 0wn market niche.Businesses in communities that have a relatively high prop0rtion of smokers relative to nonsmokers will be opp0sed to regi0nal smoking bans, as will businesses and municipalities bordering communities that have not ad0pted a smoking ban.  Many establishments that would be largely unaffected might be inclined t0 stay on the sidelines 0f the debate.

These p0litical compr0mises arise in response to the econ0mic pressures that drive particular businesses to actively opp0se smoking ban ordinances.   Those who are m0st threatened by any public policy proposal tend to be m0re adamant in their opp0sition and are more likely to have their interests accomm0dated in final legislation. The prevalence of such exemptions in existing sm0king ordinances reflects underlying economic pressures and pr0vides indirect evidence of the potential adverse effects of more comprehensive sm0king ban proposals.  In fact, the resources that businesses expend on their opposition to sm0king bans, and their lobbying efforts to obtain exemptions, represent direct costs of smoking ban prop0. sals, whether or not they are ultimately implemented. S0,its can make 0ur g0verment difficult t0  admin a0r c0untry..am I right frenz?? =)-Posted by Azlinawati

How does smoking affect other people?

Smoking can affect to other people such as children and passive smoking of adults.

Children and babies who live in a home where there is a smoker because there are more prone to asthma and ear, nose and chest infections. Normally children who' are been infection by smoking have an increased risk of dying from cot death. Then, they are more likely than average to become smokers themselves when older. Next, they are do less well at reading and reasoning skills compared to children in smoke-free homes, even at low levels of smoke exposure. They also at increased risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer. For secondary smoker, people who are smoking have an increased risk of lung cancer and heart disease if  you are exposed to other people smoking for long periods of time. Did you one of them who are smoking everywhere?

Hello there!
See u again..For this entry i would like to create n discuss with all of u about 'Why People Become Smoker'..
as a women, i always thinking...what is the superiority of the smoking nowadays..its because i really think when we smoke its really wasting our money...why? because cigarettes is not cheap!

1) There are many smokers out there. But when you ask them why they become a smoker. They will answer, because want to try.

2) The most important thing, at such a young age, they don't really think about the health risk of smoking. And also do not  realize how addictive can be.

3) I ask my friend and also my classmate, why do they start smoking. Then the answer its because of peer pressure. Many of them start smoking because their friend have tried it or smoke themselves.

In my opinion, at that age a teenager is more likely to be influenced by what their friends are doing rather then doing what their parents would like them to do.. Yeaahh..thats my opinion..you? =)

factors of people become a smoker

Why people become a smoker?? Let us talk and think about it for a moment... Well, anyway there are a lot of other reasons like the ones that I have listed below...

In my personal opinion, people becomes a smoker is depending on how and who are influent them to be a smoker...Many, in fact most people become smokers as a result of an experiment.. So let us examine some of the factors that contribute towards making a person a smoker, chain and so on...

1. Firstly is peer pressure is one bad apple is enough to make a whole barrel of apples bad... During the age of thoughtless youth (most people develop the habit before the age of 25) every one is ready So when peers compel others to take a puff, one just has to take a puff or else face the danger of being branded as “chicken” or “goody-two-shoes.”

2.  Next is availibility...Cigarettes are available every where and any body can get them and that is one of core factor that contributing to the development of the habit. Another reason is that cigarettes are more cheap...anybody can get them..so, people more easily to smoking...

3. Futhermore is aping.  Movie stars and other celebrities who's are smoke look so cool, and this is more than enough reason for teenagers to start smoking just to follow their matinee idol.

4. In addition, the feel good syndrome is one of factor that are contributing of people like to smoke.  Cigarettes are often identified with the cool factor and so it is agreat way to impress others if you can delicately balance the cigarette between two of your fingers and blow up a puff of smoke while you are in your friends' circle...

5. Attitude is one of good reason why more people beacome smoker... This is a good one, but a bit weird enough this cause is seldom identified as one of the reasons for picking up the habit....  One thing about most of us is that there is a rebellious strain in all of us. ...Well you know what, that is generates an urge to protest against existing rules and norms and during our teenages, the better way to express our defiance than by sporting a lighted cigarette between our fingers or lips...

As we know, while most people know that smoking cigarettes damages their health, you may not realise just how far reaching the damaging effects of smoking are. Smoking not only increases your risk of serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, stroke and lung disease, but it can also contribute to cosmetic problems such as wrinkles and discoloured teeth. The effects of smoking can be very critical even on a person’s brain health especially when this is overly done. Here the effects of smoking that the smokers should to know!! =)

1)Firstly ,it can effects your eyes. The risk of developing cataracts is 2-3 times higher among smokers compared with non-smokers. Cataracts are one of the most common causes of visual impairment among Australians. Smoking is also the major preventable cause of macular degeneration, a condition which causes blurred central vision. Did you want it happens to you??

2)Secondly , its also will be effects your mouth. The risk of developing cataracts is 2-3 times higher among smokers compared with non-smokers. Cataracts are one of the most common causes of visual impairment among Australians. Smoking is also the major preventable cause of macular degeneration, a condition which causes blurred central visions. In additions, smokers of the same age tend to look older than their non-smoker because smoking makes teeth turn yellow and as stains also develop on the fingers.

3)Thirdly, smoking also effects to reproctive system either man or woman!! Smoking increases the risk of cervical cancer in women, and may be associated with an increased risk of erectile dysfunction (getting or maintaining an erection) in men. Women who smoke may have more trouble getting pregnant than non-smokers. This is especially true if their partner is also a smoker, because smoking can reduce a man’s sperm count. Smoking during pregnancy can increase your risk of miscarriage, pregnancy complications, and premature delivery. Smoking during pregnancy also increases your baby’s risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). So just be aware n think the risk when u take a smoke!!
